WELCOME TO MIRI, Borneo Sarawak!
22nd July, 2007
"Tree Top Lodge" , This is where we stay for the 1st night. It's real nice & calm place which was located at one of the rural areas near Gua Niah.
The first few hours, non of us are used to it, we just kept complaining how quiet & dead this place is and such. Gradually, I became to like this place. Not only for it's serenity, also for it's closeness it brings me to Mother Nature. I felt asleep shortly after we reached, while the others are busy taking the tour!
Ps: Pls take a tour at the website for more details
Pic: Beautiful Lily Pond that's well taken care.
Pic: Ahh.. This is the interesting Part. Open Air Bathroom!!
Pic: Chew Yan at the lower rate hostel, part of Tree Top's Property
I think is meant for the Host's Kids
Pic: LeyChu with the engraved marking History of Tree Top's address & Its date of built.
The Art of Crabs' crawl from the beach near Tree Top
(Which requires 2km of walking to the beach)
It was about to rain, here is the capture of the beauty pre-rain fall's view

Pic: The map of Gua Niah
Pic: I am pointing to the broken string that Yoko broke as she stepped into the boat
Pic: Ever famous Rattan Tree, resources of many beautifully made Cane Furnitures.
Ahh.. This is one interesting photo. Behind me, is a 90kg of Bat's poo poo @ The Locals' daily income.
They carried this bag every day up and down the hill (to-flo of 6km at least).
Apparantly, these are used as fertilizer to the farmers.
Ps: Check out the Orang Asli's 6 pads! They don't need a gym!
Very Handy, especially when it rain!
Usually used to built the Long houses.

Kenneth says, these trees actually contains water. When one is stucked in the jungle, just watch out for this tree, cut open and thou shall find water resource in there.
Warning, some look-alike tree are actually poisonous.
Pic: Part of the broken path, on the way to Gua Niah. Government are replacing some broken path already.
Pic: Beauty of Mother Nature.

Personal thanks to all photographer, they took many shots just to get the right one!! =) haha usual, I am the only one without camera
Pic: Locals daily income. The beauty of handmade crafts. Beading reminds me of Shirt-leet.
Pic: The Origin Path. You can find such paths half of the journey.
They are waiting for me. As usual, not tough physically, I took my time to walk at this narrow path. Of course, I am scared too. Imagine this, you gotta walk on such path for at least 2 KM & it's like 3-storey tall from the base of the path!! I am scared of heights ok!
Behind me, is the origin wood structure of Long House. The others are too busy taking photos! hehe
Pic: Locals' income! hehe, yup! These are the Bat's poo poo, which Locals sell it as fertilizer.
Pic: The Journey continues to the next Cave.
Pic: Archeology Site. Quite small place for a research though.
Proud me standing by the entrance of Niah Cave! haha, I can't believe I DID IT there with no tireness or sore legs or what-so-ever! The others are all trained before they came. So, these are just peanuts to them.
The trails of Bats' Nests. It smells really bad in here actually. It still impresses me how National Geographic ppl sacrifies their life just to show us beautiful shootings! These nests are so high up and it's just to dangerous to climb around. We caught this by the side of the cave. Hence you can't really notice the Bats. haha
Mega Huge Pandan Leaf! You can find these along the paths. Since I am not taking photos, I took the advantage on sight seeing the beauty of Mother Nature. If you to zoom in, you can actually see the mega huge pandan leaf's plant by my left side! This is to proof that one leave is actually as tall as my height! haha
Happy Yoko & Ley Chu, Taking a rest at the rest stop. You can find a few decent built rest stops along the way too! Please be kind to Mother Nature, and make sure you bring your rubbish back and not throw it by the rest stops despite rubbish bins are provided. This will help lessen the burdens of the Locals to ensure the cleaniness of the Cave. Thank you!

A Happy Wing resting, she is bubbly hehe. Which is good, it helps bring up the cheerfulness! ^^
Behind, Kenneth taking his puff again. Very kind of him to sponsor us natural energy booster, Bananas.
It puzzled me how he keep up his stamina while he kept taking puff every half hour!
Yoko is happy! Behind her is the entrance of Painting Cave. The view from here is spectaculus! It is really awesome! You get to view the whole jungle here and part of others cave too. Sadly... our cameras can't support on taking a good shot here.. this are the best we could take.
A Tired Chew Yan. Poor gal got bitten by mosquitoes. She has extremely sensitive skin!
Myself and Chiew Yee. She is really adventurous! I remembered she was sharing her experience climbing all sorts of cave/mountains throughout the whole journey from KL with the others.

The ever famous, Miri City Fan . Due to time constrain, I only get to see 1% of this park. This is a very special park to reflect the multi-racial of Malaysia.

She is one experienced climber! Learnt a few tips from her too! Glad to meet you! ^^
Ahhh.. another favourite picture taken! This was taken as we are returning back. I was stepping on the ground that shaped like a moon's surface. Best shot we could took.
I am all sweaty and tired by now, but sure is a good experience.
That reminds me, I need start training for Northern Thai Ministry too!

Basically we just went for a City Tour, Souvenir Hunting & Sea food at Restaurant Tanjung for the day.
Due to time rush, not much pictures taken.
Indeed, a very special dish, which was recommended by Yoko's friend. Worth trying!

Myself & Chiew Yee by the Sea Horse. Did you know that sea horses goes in a Pair? The male sea horse will always tag the female sea horse, just to protect her and the babies too! =)
Behind me, is the view of Miri City. A City filled with wealth. I was astonished by the big big houses all the way. You can just find any nicely built bungalows almost every where! Far left behind me, is the Beverly Hills of Miri. Far Right behind me, is where the Shell station is.

"http://www.museum.sarawak.gov.my/" Petroleum Museum ", Interesting place for history on Petroleum. It's a must to go for people whom really truly want to understand how petroleum are processed. Also not forgetting those who enjoyes all kinds of physics theory, this is a must place for you too! FYI, is FOC.
Pic: Experiencing the earthquake from Kelisa. I now understand how much fear one person will faced when earthquake comes. This is one must try item in the Museum.

Pic: Chiew Yee doing the "Caren, stop playing" recording on the Principle on how voices are recorded.
It's pretty interesting as this is the same method how soldiers communicated during the war times.
Once we are done with the Historical places, we reached our last stop before having our Seafood dinner, as the gals needed to get some Bird Nest. I am not Bird Nest person, I gotta admit those sales gals have real good complexion! Hmm..Bird Nest really give thaose? hmmm..
As the gals are being explained how to choose high quality Bird Nest and how not to be conned, some thing really caught my attention. One big big big bag of over-grown mushrooms that was imported from Japan! Haha I can't help it, and asked if I could take picture with it!!! Just soooo cute !!
Ps: In the end, each of us got at least 2 big pieces of these Mushrooms that equals half bag sold to us! haha
